About Us
As two sisters with a Swedish background, we’ve for many years wanted to have a signature Scandinavian akvavit developed for our personal use and to introduce to the local market. Akvavit is a centuries old herb infused spirit that is iconic in the Scandinavian countries. The origin of the word Akvavit/Aquavit/Akevitt comes from the Latin ‘Aqua Vitae’ meaning ‘Water of Life’. Last year we decided to pursue this dream and met up with Riana Macdougall, the owner and master distiller of The Noble Experiment.
We described the distinct herbal flavours we wanted to replicate and within 6 months she had created an authentic South African Akvavit, which forms part of the local ‘herb infused’ Vodka category.
Our next challenge was getting it to market. We soon realised that local craft distilleries faced similar challenges in showcasing their premium quality gins, vodkas, spirit aperitifs and liqueurs. We have therefore set up a boutique distribution network called Red Marimba in order to enable the craft loving consumer to easily access these innovative and beautifully artisanal spirit products through retail channels.
We are thrilled to initially be representing the labels of The Noble Experiment and Masau Craft Distilleries.
